Power Weekend

I'm exhausted from the weekend. Drove down to San Diego Thursday night and hit the Wild Animal Park on Friday. It was mostly to take the tram tour and see their Dino Mountain exhibit. Kalani was afraid of the animatronic dinosaurs, but played it off afterward. The Park is plenty big with lots of area to cover. The tram tour is pretty cool. But a lot of the animals in the enclosures become redundant once you take the tour. The kids had a good time. Both were nice and tired by the time we got home.

We got into the OC Fair for $2, with a closing weekend coupon. Kalani loved all the rides. Kalea didn't even go on the Ferris wheel or Super Slide, while Kalani did. We did the normal stuff we usually do: reptile house, art exhibit, fried food. The weather was breezy, and it kept things cool. Also, not too busy either. A pretty good day to be walking around the Fair.

4th

I'm exhausted. This morning it seemed like a distant memory the last time I was at work and that was only Thursday. I joked at the thought of not remembering my login password at work. The ironic thing was that it expired today and made me change to a new one.

The 4th was great! Kalea's birthday week continued and we had her BBQ on Friday. So, officially she had: cupcakes at daycare on Tuesday, Disneyland trip on Wednesday, (free) Pizza Kitchen dinner on Thursday, family pool party & BBQ on Friday, fireworks at the park on Saturday, & swimming and yogurtland on Sunday. She got a motorized razor scooter from her grandparents. It's a bit much for her to handle right now, but it makes a great excuse for fun tandem rides with Daddy.

Kalani is generally afraid of everything, but apparently not of fireworks. He's also pretty bold in the pool as well. So, he enjoyed the weekend festivities and seeing his grandparents.

I had a bacon double cheeseburger fresh off the grill on Friday, funnelcake, bacon wrapped hotdog, kettle corn on Saturday and an Italian feast on Sunday. I guess that's why I was pretty sluggish this morning. Very hard to get into the gym.

I think my eating was to make up for Kobayashi's loss to Chestnut at the '09 Nathan's Hotdog eating contest. I believe the final score was 68 Chestnut and 64 Kobayashi. That's an incredible number, especially since they went down to 10 minutes from 12 minutes only two years ago and they are already eating more dogs in less overall time.

Father's Day

Well, it was another action packed weekend. Friday was Thai food at a new place in the LBC. It was pretty damn good and we're definitely going back; probably sooner than later. We were introduced to this place by our resident Thai expert and if she gives it a thumbs up you know it's authentico. Also, it was free, so that made it even better. Thanks Malinee!

Saturday was the usual massage appointment in Brea, so I got to take the kids on an 'adventure' walk. Basically any alley or unpaved areas become an adventure. Had some good mall sushi for lunch. We all took a long nap and it was so good that I travelled back in time and thought it was the morning, having no recollection of the trip to Brea. Very confusing. We did a Father's Day dinner on Saturday night, since Sunday was too busy. Famous Dave's BBQ. I had the baby back ribs & brisket combo. I love that place. Their hot BBQ sauce really makes the food. We walked around the harbour and it was a good time.

Sunday was hockey day. Alisia had a game in El Segundo at noon and Panorama City at 4:30. She won both games which was nice. And I got to hang out with the kids all day. We had packed PB&J sandwiches, so it was kinda like camping. In-between games we had time to grab a frozen yogurt. It was a lot of driving, but the kids don't mind it. Everyone was exhausted and they get to sleep-in. So, it will be a long day at work, struggling to stay awake.
