It's only one game and it wasn't for the gold medal. But what a huge game for the US. Beating Canada in Canada.
Not to put the blame on any one player, but Marty Brodeur didn't look himself and misplayed the puck several times, leading to good scoring chances and one goal. That gave the US some life early in the game. It also kept the crowd out of it. The US played a very aggressive game, forechecking hard and creating turnovers; going to the net and causing havok in front. Basic, hardworking hockey. And what can you say about Ryan Miller? We were seriously outshot in the game. It was all about Miller standing on his head.
I think it was a great feat by the US to win the pool and get the bye into the quarterfinal round. But I hope the extra days-off allow the team to refocus. As the "real" tests begin once the elimination rounds start.
